Kenneth Earl House

Kenneth Earl House, a resident of New Hope, Virginia, ascended to his eternal life on June 10, 2019 from the comfort of home with his daughter by his side. He was born on May 8, 1942 in Hartford, Connecticut, to the late Earl F. House and Frances O. (Gildner) House. Ken grew up on Tolland Street in East Hartford, Connecticut, and lived in Ashford, New Britain, and Stafford, Connecticut, before moving to Virginia in 2017 to enjoy warmer winters and the beautiful vistas of the Shenandoah Valley. In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 33 years, Marjorie (Johnson) House, sisters Nancy Klaus and Janis Sousa, and grandsons, Ryan House and Robert House, Jr. Survivors include his sister, Elizabeth Burns and her husband David of Stafford, Connecticut; his children: Tammy LaPlante of Killingly, Connecticut; Robert House, Sr. of Nashua, New Hampshire; Kimberley Fontaine and her husband Stuart, of New Hope, Virginia, with whom he made his home; and Matthew House of Vernon, Connecticut.  He is also survived by grandchildren: Darrin Grant, Jessica Grant, Dylan Gondyke, Cody Gondyke, Daniel Scarlett, Rachel Pawloski, Phoebe Fontaine, Daniel Fontaine, Olivia House and Lindsey Fontaine; and seven precious great-grandchildren.  Ken also leaves his special lifelong friend and co-conspirator Bob Higley of Connecticut, friends and cherished niece Debbie Goodrich and her husband, Hewey of Maine, and special nephew David Burns and his wife Bonnie of Stafford, Connecticut. Over the years, Ken owned and operated several shoe repair shops, and retired from TYCO Printed Circuits in Stafford, Connecticut. Ken loved his family, traveling, gardening, riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, any football team other than the New England Patriots, trips to Maine and Cape Cod, and helping others in need when he could - especially volunteering at the soup kitchen. The family asks that in his memory you donate, preferably your time, to your local soup kitchen. At Ken's request, there will be a private graveside ceremony in Connecticut at the convenience of the family.  Condolences may be sent to the family at www.henryfuneralhome.net .
