LENA C. HUFFER STAUNTON, VA… Lena Catherine (Gwin) Huffer, 95, widow of Alvin Norwood Huffer, of Buttermilk Spring Road, died Tuesday, October 11, 2016, in Augusta Health, Fishersville. She was born October 21, 1920, in Highland County, a daughter of the late Rennick and Rowena (Hupman) Gwin. Prior to the retirement, Mrs. Huffer was employed by Ethan Allen Furniture in Bridgewater. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by a son, William Norwood Huffer; three brothers, Rosser, Charles, and Pete Gwin; and two sisters, Rebecca Wilfong and Madeline Lamb. Family members include a son, Robert Huffer of Kannapolis, North Carolina; a daughter and son-in-law, Wanda H. Armstrong and husband, Ray, of Staunton; three grandchildren, Michael Armstrong and wife, Bettina, of Mt. Solon, Debbie Stewart and husband, D.J. of Mt. Sidney, and Teresa Huffer of Kannapolis, North Carolina; and four great grandchildren, Kelsie and Addison Stewart, and, Emmaleigh and Eleighna Armstrong. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 13, 2016, in the Mt. Olivet United Brethren in Christ Church, Mt. Solon, by the Rev. Galen Combs.
