Leon Mills Shiplett, Sr.

LEON M. SHIPLETT, SR. VERONA, VA Leon Mills Shiplett, Sr., husband of Louise June (Newlen) Shiplett of Verona, died Thursday, August 28, 2014, at his residence. He was born January 20, 1942, in Augusta County, a son of the late Carl and Vesta (Eckard) Shiplett. Prior to retirement, he was employed by V K Properties. In addition to his wife, family members include two sons, Leon Shiplett, Jr. of Crimora and Eric Newlen of Staunton; two daughters, Lisa Newlen of Greenville and Manessa Newlen of Verona; a sister, Dorothy Botkin of Greenville; seven grandchildren; and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 p.m. Sunday, August 31, 2014 in the Henry Funeral Home. There will be no services. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah.
