LEROY L. McLEOD STAUNTON, VA… Leroy Linwood McLeod, aged 88, passed away on January 12 after a long illness. A native of Durham, NC, he lived for many years in Richmond, VA and recently in Staunton, VA. He attended Duke University and the Juilliard School of Music in New York. For 34 years, he was employed as a sales representative for Merck and Co. while spending many years singing in church choirs and making his love of music a lifetime avocation. He and his wife traveled for years around the globe hearing great performances and he was a longtime patron of the Metropolitan Opera. Mr. McLeod, who was predeceased by his son, Carl McLeod, is survived by his wife, Alice, daughter, Karen Jeffrey (Joe), son, Mark McLeod (Dulcie Stoepker), step-daughter, Carolyn Maloney, and step-son, Michael Maloney, granddaughters Meredith Jeffrey and Meredith McLeod, and grandsons James Jeffrey, Iain McLeod and Evan McLeod. A memorial service is planned for a later date. Anyone wishing to make a contribution in his memory can do so by donating to the Staunton Augusta YMCA or the Downtown Richmond YMCA.
