Lester Gilbert Anderson, Sr.

LESTER G. ANDERSON, JR. STAUNTON, VA.. Lester Gilbert Anderson, Jr., 82, husband of Davetta (Webb) Anderson, of 300 Churchville Ave., died Thursday, May 31, 2012, in Augusta Health, Fishersville. He was born October 21, 1929, in Staunton a son of the late Lester Gilbert "Blackie" and Sarah Katherine (Nutty) Anderson. Mr. Anderson was a veteran of the U. S. Army earning the rank of Sergeant having served in Korea. Prior to retirement, he was employed by G. E. He attended Linden Heights Baptist Church. He was an avid sports fan and antique dealer. In addition to his wife, family members include a daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Rickey Redifer; a brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Patricia Anderson; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Shirley Johnson, Phyllis Burner, and Peggy and Raymond Parnell; a sister-in-law, Ellen Anderson; a grandson, Nick Redifer; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Davis Anderson; a son, Cliff Anderson; three brothers, Bob Anderson, Bill Anderson, and Charles Anderson; and two sisters, Maxine Moore and Jean Harshbarger. A memorial service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2012, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. David Anderson.
