Lewis Alfred Gough

LEWIS A. GOUGH  SWOOPE, VA…  Lewis Alfred Gough, 77, of Swoope, died Monday, January 22, 2018 at Augusta Health. He was born December 20, 1940 in Swoope, a son of the late James Alfred and Mary (Hayes) Gough.  Mr. Gough was a veteran of the U. S. Army.  Prior to retirement, Lewis was employed by the Augusta County Sheriff’s Department as a deputy and was also a bailiff for Augusta County Court. After retiring, he worked at Nuckols Gun Shop.  He was a past member of the Staunton Augusta Rescue Squad.  Family members include two brothers, Marion Gough and wife, Lindy, and Donald Gough; an uncle, Donald Hayes and wife, Willie; a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a special friend, Betty Gough.  He was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Ronald Gough.  A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 25, 2018 in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Bob Sharp. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens.  Active pallbearers will be friends attending the service.  Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Stonewall Rifle and Pistol Club.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
