WAYNESBORO, VA Lewis William "Jim" Shuey, 89, husband of Luella (Chittum) Shuey, of 789 Kiddsville Road, was called home on Sunday, April 19, 2015, from his residence. He was born June 22, 1925, in Augusta County, a son of the late Lewis Herman and Bessie (Weaver) Shuey. Mr. Shuey was a veteran of the United States Army having served in WWII in Japan. Prior to retirement in 1983, he was employed by DuPont. Jim was loved and known for his strength, integrity, and hard work. He found satisfaction in restoring farm land, cutting wood, and working in his garden. He was a member of Fishersville Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, whom he married on October 18, 1947, family members include a son and daughter-in-law, Christopher Dennis and Debra Shuey of Waynesboro; a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Jerry Myers of Staunton; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Scott and Larissa Estes, Vickie and John Craft, Darren and Cassie Estes, Kent and Staci Keller, Jonathan and Melissa Keller, Amber and Jeff Hartzog, and Brynne and Scott Morrison; ten great-grandchildren, Laura Craft, Trent and Tye Estes, Breigh Estes, Maddyn and Camden Hartzog, Dylan Morrison, Olivia Keller, Caleb and Noah Keller; a sister, Leona Adams; and special friends, Dutch Ralston, Mark Chase, and George Swanson. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Barbara Arehart and Judy Cross; two sisters, Lottie Fitzgerald and Margaret Pitts; and special friends, Harvey Hamilton and Ray Wheeler. A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 23, 2015, at Fishersville Baptist Church by the Revs. John J. Hamric and John Craft. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens. Military rites will be given by the Augusta-Staunton VFW Post 2216. Active pallbearers will be his grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be his granddaughters. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2015, in the Henry Funeral Home.
