LILLIE M. CHAVIS VERONA, VA… Lillie Mae (Melton) Chavis, 75, wife of Eugene Chavis, of 65 Maple Drive, died Monday, June 6, 2016, at her residence. She was born July 23, 1940, in Atlantic City, New Jersey, a daughter of the late John H. and Marjorie (White) Melton. She was a member of First Church of God in Christ. She was a member of the VFW Post 2216 Women’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, and adored her grandchildren. In addition to her husband of 55 years, family members include two daughters and a son-in-law, Regina Latoya Chavis and her fiancé`, Curvey Cooper III, and Nicole C. and husband, Eric Hamilton; four grandchildren, Raegan N. Bell, Devin A. Bell, Dylan A. Thompson, and Brandon T. Hamilton; a half-brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Ann Marsh of Warrington, Pennsylvania; two sisters-in-law, Thelma C. Pierce of Ahoskie, North Carolina and Mary T. Melton of Staunton; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by brothers, James M. Melton and Carlton C. Melton and a sister-in-law, Cleo Melton. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2016, in the First Church of God in Christ by the Rev. Marvin Melton. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens.The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, June 10, 2016, in the Henry Funeral Home.
