Lucie Ludwig Kirby

LUCIE A. KIRBY STAUNTON, VA Lucie Jane Acord Ludwig Kirby died on June 13th, 2014 at the home of her daughter and son in law Lucie and Jay Jeffreys, who had been caring for her the past 5 years. Lucie was born June 21st, 1927 To Walter Scott Acord and Gladys Adelaide Hicks Acord in Craigsville Va. She graduated from Robert E Lee High school, and attended Mary Baldwin College where she was active in the drama club and had a passion for journalism. She continued to love both writing and drama throughout her life. She lived in many places up and down the east coast during her life, and last made her residence in Waynesboro Virginia before receiving care from her daughter due to her declining health. She is survived by her daughters Jacquelyn Ludwig Fussell (husband Jeffrey), and Lucie Lloyd Ludwig Jeffreys (husband Jay) son Earl Kruger Kirby III, and multiple nieces and nephews, and 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husbands Graham Gilmore Ludwig and Earl Kirby Jr., her eldest son Graham Gilmore Ludwig Jr. and her sisters Joy Adelaide Acord Dabney, and Jacquelyn Ruth Acord Lauer. Lucie is loved by her children and grandchildren. Her wit, guidance and humor will be missed. She will have a grave side service at Thornrose Cemetery on June 21, 2014 at 1pm. Family will receive visitors at Henry Funeral Home on June 20th, 2014 from 6 to 8pm. Special thanks to Hospice who endeavored to make her last days peaceful and comfortable.
