Dr. Luis Rodriguez-Medina

DR. LUIS H. RODRIGUEZ-MEDINA WAYNESBORO, VA Dr. Luis Hernando Rodriguez-Medina, 80, of 30 Jefferson Green, and formerly of Houston, TX and Minden, LA, died Thursday, June 21, 2012, at Augusta Health, Fishersville. He was born August 14, 1931, in Bogota, Colombia, a son of the late Zenon Maria Rodriguez-Ramirez and Berenice Medina-Zunega. Dr. Rodriguez-Medina went to medical school at the National University of Colombia. His post-graduate training included internal medicine at the Jewish Hospital of New York and the University of Texas, the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. He was a physician at the MD Anderson, the Veterans Administration Hospitals, in both Arkansas and Louisiana, and most recently, private practice in Shreveport, LA and Kingwood, TX. Additionally, he served as a Major in the U. S. Army. He had a love for animals, and devotedly served his patients over 50 years. Family members include a daughter, Rachel Rodriguez; a niece, Glenda Albornoz-Chavarriaga and her husband, Guillermo, of Raleigh, NC. In Colombia, South America, he is survived by six sisters, a brother, and many nieces and nephews. The family requests memorials to be made to the UT MD Anderson Cancer Center, 1515 Holcombe Blvd., Houston, TX 77030. Henry Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
