MALEDA E. TATE-COX Maleda Elivra Tate-Cox, age 70, of Silver Spring, Maryland, formerly of Staunton, Virginia passed away Saturday, May 14, 2011. Maleda was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School and the Medical College of Virginia (St. Phillips School of Nursing). She made her home in Silver Spring, Maryland where she was an administrative plan coordinator for Blue Cross Blue Shield until her retirement. Maleda was a life-time member of Augusta Street Methodist Church. Also, she was an active supporter of both the B. T. Washington and the Medical College of Virginia Alumni Associations. In addition, she was a founding member of the Montgomery County Coalition of 100 Black women. Maleda is survived by her mother, Edna Tate of Staunton; sister, Patricia (Henry) Turner of Crown Point, Indiana; special lifelong friend, Sandra Waters Brown, godson Kristopher Brown and many relatives and friends. Friends may view during the day Friday, May 20, 2011 at Henry Funeral Home, 1030 West Beverly Street, Staunton until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call anytime at the residence, 619 Baptist Street. Services will be held Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Augusta Street Methodist Church, 325 North Augusta Street, Staunton. Memorial donations may be made to the B.T. Washington Alumni Association, P.O. Box 58, Staunton, Virginia 24402-0058.
