MARIE C. ROWE STAUNTON, VA… Marie Campbell Rowe, long-time resident of Staunton, went to be with her Lord on April 10, 2017. Marie was born in Rockbridge County on January 11, 1935. As a member of Jollivue United Methodist Church, Marie participated in many activities which demonstrated her love of the Lord and her kindness towards others. Marie retired from Staunton City Schools where she shared her culinary talents with teachers and students. She was preceded in eternal rest by her husband, John W. Rowe, and her parents, Silas Campbell and Frances Bowling. Also, by her brothers: Richard, James, Silas, Herbert, Joe, and Ernest; a sister, Ruby and a granddaughter, Melissa. She was blessed by her son, John Wayne Rowe; daughters, Ferne Conroy (Larry), Debbie Dovel (Scott), and Leigh Byrd. Her surviving brothers are: Billy, Carl, and Claude. She has six grandchildren; Heather, Kim, Mandee, Kirtley, Mary, and Ashleigh. Hannah, Collin, Alex and Ryan are her great-grandchildren. She was a devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother always giving love and devotion to her Lord and family. Many thanks go to her special friends and family who traveled on trips with her, took her to lunch or stopped by for a visit bringing greater sunshine to her day: James and Joyce Sink, Frances Watkins, Sandra Faye Heizer and Mary Anna Rowe. The family visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 12th from 6-8 pm at Henry Funeral Home and other times at the residence, 508 Betsy Bell Road. There will be a celebration of Marie’s life at Jollivue United Methodist Church on April 13th at 11 am followed by burial at Thornrose Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Daryl Campbell, Tommy Marcum, Tommy Watkins, Kirtley Dovel, Ryan and Collin Whitman. Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Watkins and James Sink. Donations in Marie’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association or a charity of your choice. Marie’s fingerprints on the lives of so many will be long remembered. The loss we feel can be softened with the comfort of knowing that her greatest journey is just beginning!
