MARK E. DIEHL STAUNTON, VA Mark Eugene Diehl, 44, husband of Lisa (Klein) Diehl, of 1164 Frog Pond Road, passed away Monday, February 11, 2013, at his residence. He was born on February 10, 1969, in Waynesboro, son of Berlin Diehl and the late Nancy (Painter) Diehl. Sergeant Diehl earned his Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from Virginia Tech. He worked for the Staunton Police Department for 20 years where he commanded the Criminal Investigation Unit and served as a Team Leader for the Critical Incident Response Team. He was also a member of Fishersville United Methodist Church and the North American San Shin Kai. In addition to his wife and father, family members include two step daughters, Elisabeth Caroline Janicker and Alexandra Lian Klein; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Beverley Diehl of Tampa, Florida and Tina and David Savopolous of Richmond; and a niece, Katrina Savoupolous. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 14, 2013 at Calvary Baptist Church, 105 Garland Drive Staunton, by the Rev. Beth Pyles of McDowell Presbyterian Church and Chaplain Greg Czerniak of the Staunton Police Department. Full police honors will be rendered by members of the Staunton Police Department.
