MARTHA B. RAMSEY STAUNTON, VA Martha Bower Ramsey passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at her home and in the care of her family. She was 91 years old. She was born on December 11, 1923, in Botetourt County, Virginia, the daughter of Maude (Hurst) Bower and Jesse Herman Bower. In addition to her husband, T.V. Ramsey, Mrs. Ramsey is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Bernard Bower, Odell Bower, Garland Bower, Jesse Herman Bower, Jr. and Woody Bower; and by sisters, Beatrice (Bower) Buchanan, Lutitia (Bower) Crawford, and Josephine (Bower) Davis. Mrs. Ramsey is survived by a sister, Nancy (Bower) Snead of Manassas, Virginia; two sons, Edward L. Ramsey and his wife, Judy (Hodges) Ramsey, and Doug V. Ramsey and his wife, Tracy (Baldwin) Ramsey; two daughters, Sherry L. Ramsey and her husband, Grant Aleksander, and Karen (Ramsey) Mundy and her husband, Doug Mundy; seven grandchildren, Patience Ramsey, Leila Ramsey, Michael Ramsey, Brian Ramsey, Melanie Duvall, Danielle Mundy and Keegen Mundy. She is also survived by beloved great grandchildren and many wonderful nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Mrs. Ramsey was a homemaker as well as a talented musician who played guitar and sang. She performed publically for pleasure with close family and friends for many years. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 8, 2015 at First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Thornrose Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be, Brian Ramsey, Michael Ramsey, Bill Taylor, Mark Vigilone, Eugene Reid, Bryant Clements, Monty Snead and Dave Snead. Honorary pallbearers will be Patience Ramsey, Leila Ramsey, Melanie Duvall, Sharon Fitzgerald, Helen Brooks, Phillip Ramsey, Kim Reed, Anna Pullin, Ann Taylor, and Dolly and Harry Johnson. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Henry Funeral Home.
