Martha Strole

FISHERSVILLE, VA Martha (Meyerhoeffer) Strole, 85, widow of Roy L. Strole, died on Sunday, April 12, 2015 in Shenandoah Nursing Home. She was born on January 18, 1930 in Augusta County, a daughter of the late William Wade and Delpha (Link) Meyerhoeffer. Martha was a devoted mother. She was a lifelong member of Laurel Hill Baptist Church. She was family oriented and enjoyed her employment as a pre-school teacher. She also enjoyed gardening and crocheting. Surviving family members include two daughters, Brenda Van Pelt and Debra Kingston and her husband, Stephen; a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Nancy Strole; five grandchildren, Brian Van Pelt and wife, Dr. Brenda Berkelaar, Alisa Sauer and husband, Rev. John Sauer, Whitney C. Cook, Emily Watley and Ann Carlisle Knicely and husband, Ryan; five great grandchildren, John Sauer, Anna Sauer, Charlotte Van Pelt, Micah Strole, and Kanoah Watley; a brother and sister-in-law, Nelson and Georgia Meyerhoeffer; two sisters, Mildred Moore, and June Garrison and her husband, Gene; a sister-in-law, Lois Meyerhoeffer; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, and her husband who preceded her in death in 1986, she is also preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers-in-law, Virginia and Harry Weaver, Ellen and Warren Drumheller, and James Moore; and a brother, William Meyerhoeffer. A memorial service will be conducted at noon on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at Laurel Hill Baptist Church by Rev. Bill Davis. A private graveside service will be conducted at Augusta Memorial Park. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
