MARY B. ADAMS WAYNESBORO, VA Mary Burnett Adams, 84, wife of Linwood L. Adams, of 8 Wellington Place, Waynesboro, died Thursday, August 8, 2013, in Royal Care, Staunton. She was born September 23, 1928, in New York City, NY, a daughter of the late William and Emma Bertie (Morgan) Burnett. Most of her youth was spent in the Chesapeake/Norfolk County. Mary was a Registered Nurse and a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Nursing. Prior to retiring from the VA Medical Center, Hampton, she was employed in nursing for 33 years. In 1994 she and Linwood moved to Waynesboro from Currituck County, NC, and became members of First Presbyterian Church and later Westminster Presbyterian Church where they are currently members. She enjoyed traveling, church activities, and being at home. Living in the Waynesboro/Augusta County community and being a member of Mallory Miracles brought her much happiness. In addition to her husband of 46 years, family includes two sisters, Lucille Burnett Green of Beaufort, SC and Ruth Burnett Marley of Robbins, NC; and several nieces and nephews. As per her request, she was cremated. A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, August 12, 2013, in the Westminster Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Jim Young. The family will receive friends following the service in the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1904 Mount Vernon Street, Waynesboro, Virginia 22980.
