MARY J. LAWSON STAUNTON, VA Mary Ann (Jennings) Lawson departed this life on March 16, 2012 at 4:20 a.m. She was born on February 26, 1930, in Abingdon, VA. Her late parents were Gladys Marshall and Joseph Jennings and spent most of her young life living in Carroll County. Mary Ann worked two years as a beautician before marriage to the late Jefferson Rowe Lawson, Jr. They were married 59 years. He passed away in September 2007. They owned and operated Lawson Printing, Co. in Staunton, VA. In addition, Mary Ann helped found the VSDB museum. She was also active in the Deaf Alumni Association. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Bobbie of Churchville, Charlie and Barbara of Waynesboro. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Troy and his wife, Laura, Maggie and Jenni; and two great grandsons, Carter and Mason. Mary Ann has three brothers, Joe Paul Jennings of Dugspur, Marvin Lee Jennings of Tucson, AZ, and Tom Jennings of Roanoke; and two sisters, Betty Holcomb of Crimora and Geneva Linscott of Michigan. She also leaves a special uncle, Payne Marshall of Tennessee and Florida. She also leaves some very special friends, Ashley McAllister, Paul Massie, and the staff of Augusta Nursing and Rehab Center. Special thanks to these great people for their love and care. She loved her family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them. It is her desire that memorial contributions be made to Augusta Nursing and Rehab Center, Activity Department, 83 Crossroads Lane, Fishersville, VA 22939. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2012 in Thornrose Cemetery by the Rev. April Cranford.
