Mary McNamara, loving daughter, mother and grandmother, passed away Friday, May 20, 2016 at Augusta Health after extended illnesses. She was born in Verona on December 4, 1941, daughter of the late Charles Edgar and Geneva Smith Smiley.  Mary is survived by her daughter, Sharon McNamara Morris; son-in-law, Michael Morris; her son, John Fredrick McNamara IV; daughter-in-law, Teresa Drumheller McNamara; grandchildren, Ellen Caitlin Morris, Andrew Weston Morris, Kaitlyn Elizabeth McNamara  and John (Jack) Frederick McNamara V.  After graduating from Robert E. Lee, Mary was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She later sold real estate, then became an Eligibility Worker for Shenandoah Valley Social Services, where she worked for over twenty years.  As an active lifelong member of Second Presbyterian Church, Staunton, Mary served as Elder, lay reader and Sunday school teacher. Mary was also leader of TOPS Virginia #185 for several years since joining in 1989.  Mary was a member and President of the Bridgewater Junior Women’s Club and volunteered for the Salvation Army and other community events and organizations.  The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at the UVA HOPE Center, Augusta Health and Hospice of the Shenandoah for their sincere care and love for Mary.  Visitation is Monday, May 23rd from 6-8 PM at Henry Funeral Home, Staunton.  A Memorial service celebrating  Mary’s life will be held at 4 PM Tuesday May 25, 2016 at Henry Funeral Home.
