Mary Clare Rogers

STAUNTON, VA… Mary Clare Naimoli Rogers, 96, widow of William Rogers, of Staunton, died Saturday, February 27, 2016 at her residence. She was born on August 15, 1919 in Brooklyn, New York, where she grew up. Mary was blessed with wonderful parents and siblings, sisters Madeline and Grace and her brother, Francis.  They were a very devout Catholic family and were always involved in church activities.  Mary also had fond memories of going frequently to Radio City Music Hall and Coney Island.  She loved spending her summers at the shore (Point Pleasant, New Jersey) with her family.  She loved dancing and listening to the music of the “big bands” of the 1940’s and “Frankie” (Sinatra) at the Pavilion on the boardwalk.  She was known for her “eagle eye” and being able to find treasures along the shore and boardwalk that no one else could find. On January 10, 1945, Mary married the love of her life William (Bill) Rogers.  Together, they had their daughter, Pat.  Mary called her “My Pat.”  The family moved to Staunton, Virginia with American Safety Razor in 1955 along with 300 families from Brooklyn.  They enjoyed their new friendships and became members of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in 1955. Mary was a homemaker.  She was a very active volunteer for St. Francis and was on many committees.  She especially loved spending time with the Lord at the Blessed Sacrament Chapel. Mary is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Pat) Rogers Frank of Atlanta, GA; a grandson, Tim Frank of Atlanta, GA;  a brother and sister-in-law, Francis and Lucy Naimoli of East Meadow, NY;  three nieces, Joyce Marino of Montauk, NY, Linda Etzel, of Montauk, NY and Donna Barnes of Salisbury, NC, and their families. She had many friends and “angels” who loved her including Ruth Fitzgerald, Ruth Ann Weaver, Helen Woods, Monica Rath, Lina Elliot, Pat Bell and Mary Painter. Mary’s family would like to thank Dr. Octavio De Los Reyes and Lakyn Sheffer for their exceptional medical care.  Pat would especially like to thank the Hospice of the Shenandoah staff (Mary, Pam, Audrey, Laura and Meagan) that supported Beautiful Mary and Pat this past week.  Thank you again for all those staff from the Hospice that Pat did not mention.  Please remember to support the Hospice of the Shenandoah. The family will receive visitors at Henry Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 2nd, from 6:00-8:00 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 3rd at 10:00 A.M. at St. Francis Catholic Church.  A reception will follow in St. Francis of Assisi Hall. Memorial gifts may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 118 N. New Street, Staunton, VA, or the Hospice of the Shenandoah, P.O. Box 215, Fishersville, VA  22939.
