GREENVILLE, VA Mary Virginia (Coffman) Senger, 97, of Greenville, woke in the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, October 17, 2014 at her residence. There she was reunited with her husband of 58 years, Harlan Andes Senger. She was born on November 26, 1916 in the community of Montezuma in Rockingham County, a daughter of the late Henry J. and Lucy D. Coffman. She graduated from high school in Weyers Cave. Mrs. Senger was the co-owner of Senger's Mountain Lake Resort in Greenville. She also organized the Waynesboro First Aid Crew Auxiliary and was their last charter member. She was also a life member of the local and state Auxiliary. Family members include two sons and daughters-in-law, Earl P. and Fran F. Senger of Greensboro, NC, and Kenneth W. and Julia B. Senger of Greenville; two grandsons, Matthew W. Senger of Copper Center, AK, and Mark A. Senger of Greenville; a sister-in-law, Janet S. McCoy of York, PA; three nieces; a nephew; her loving companion, Shadow Cat; and a number of great and great great nieces and nephews. She was the last member of her immediate family. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy C. and C. Massie Hogshead; a mother and father-in-law, Buford C. and Mary R. Senger; a brother-in-law, Joseph L. McCoy; a nephew, R.V. Puffenbarger; a nephew-in-law, Benjamin Myers; and numerous relatives and friends. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 23, 2014 by Rev. Isca Mitchell in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be the members of the Waynesboro First Aid Crew Auxiliary and the Waynesboro First Aid Crew. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, Mary requested that contributions be made in her memory to Pine's Chapel Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 588, Greenville, VA 24440; the Waynesboro First Aid Crew Auxiliary, 201 West Broad Street, Waynesboro, VA 22980; or to a charity of your choice. The family would like to express their thanks to all who gave of their time over the many years to care for their mother.
