MARY J. SMITH GAINESVILLE, VA Mary Jane (Jones) Smith, 88, widow of Charles Kenton Smith, of Gainsville died Friday, January 4, 2013, in Prince William Hospital. She was born January 6, 1924, in Monterey, a daughter of the late James Lee and Hazel Evelyn (Ervine) Jones. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Martha Cook; a great grandson; and a great, great granddaughter. Family members include three sons, Johnnie Smith and Charles M. Smith, both of Gainsville, and Wilson L. Smith of Remington; three daughters, Hazel Dodson of Churchville, Betty Miller of North Carolina, and Shirley Benjamin of Charlestown, WV; fifty plus grandchildren; and thirty-five great grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted at 9 a.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2013, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Adam Blagg. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be her grandsons, Arthur Cook, Jr., Guy Cook, David Cook, Charles Cook, Brady Dodson, and Donnie Miller. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Smith and Charles Smith, Jr. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday, January 7, 2013, in the funeral home.
