Mary Lillian Swisher

Mary Lillian (Douglas) Swisher   Craigsville, VA Mary Lillian (Douglas) Swisher, 99, of Craigsville, went to be with the Lord at her residence on Monday, November 27, 2017.   She was born August 30, 1918, in Rockbridge County, a daughter of the late William Douglas and Nollie (Liptrap) Douglas. Mrs. Swisher was a homemaker. She was a faithful member of the Joyful Sound Church in Augusta Springs. She was preceded in death by her husband Orville William Swisher. Family members include two sons, Larry Swisher and wife Connie of Staunton and Denver Swisher and wife Debbie of Churchville. She had four grandchildren, Larry Swisher Jr. and wife Crystal of North Carolina, Brandi Johnson and husband John of Staunton, Daniel Swisher and wife Samantha of Churchville and Dana Bedard of Staunton. She had eight great grandchildren, Lacey Bryant, Luke Bryant, Leah Bryant, Olivia Johnson, Chelsea Swisher, Landen Swisher, Austin Swisher, Elayna Bedard as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Swisher was preceded in death by her siblings, James Douglas, Virginia Rowe, Daisy Lambert, Emma Hevener, Adeline Fitzgerald, Dessie Powell and Mamie Douglas. A funeral service will be conducted December 1st at 11 a.m. in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Mike Herring. Burial will follow in Thornrose Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Craigsville Fire and Rescue Squad.
