MARY N. VENABLESTAUNTON, VA...Mary Nora "Sissy" Venable, 74, of Staunton, died Friday, December 25, 2015, in the Kissito Healthcare, Brain Center, Fincastle.She was born October 31, 1941, in Staunton, a daughter of the late Carl Peyton and Virginia (Venable) Parker and step-father, Henry Parker.Prior to retirement, Miss Venable was employed by Perdue.She was a faithful member of Allen Chapel, where she served as lay member, usher, and communion stewardess.She also enjoyed playing Bingo and spending time with her family and sharing family history.Family members include a sister and two brothers-in-law, Alice and Robert Woods and Ronald K. Dunnings; devoted nieces and caregivers, Phyllis and Karen Dunnings; and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.She was preceded in death by siblings, Leona Marion Dunnings, Melvin E. Venable, Anna M. Venable, and Ronald L. Venable.A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.. Thursday, December 31, 2015, in Allen Chapel by the Rev. Edward Scott. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.Active pallbearers will be friends attending the service.The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2015, in the Henry Funeral Home and other times at the residence of her sister, Alice Woods at 915 Grove Lane, Staunton.Memorials may be made to the Respiratory Rehabilitation Center at Kissito Healthcar (Brain Cente) 118 Old Fincastle Road, Fincastle, VA 24090.
