Matthew Jacob Stokes

MATTHEW J. STOKES STAUNTON, VA Matthew Jacob Stokes, 9, son of Charles and Sharon Stokes, Jr., of Staunton, died December 21, 2012 at his residence. He was born September 29, 2003 in Fishersville. Matthew was a third grade honor-roll student at Beverley Manor Elementary School. He participated in W. R. E. and he enjoyed video games and wanted to someday serve in the military. Survivors include his sister, Stephanie Dunker; a brother, Ryan McKay of Salem; Paternal grandfather, Lewis Gordon Stokes; maternal grandfather, William Butch Holdren of Roanoke;two aunts, Teresa Sprouse and Tammy May; uncle, James Michael Holdren of Carlsbad, CA; niece-to-be, Jordan Renee Dunker; a number of cousins; and his best friend, Stephen White. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Betty Loving Holdren; and his great grandfathers, Arthur Helmick and Joseph Stokes. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 on Friday, December 28, 2012 in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens.
