Maxine T. Benson

SPOTTSWOOD, VA...Maxine Taylor Benson, 78, wife of L. Stanley Benson, died Monday, May 1, 2017 at her residence. She was born on December 5, 1938 in Spottswood, a daughter of the late Raymond “Jake” and Leta S. Taylor.   Maxine graduated from Spottswood High School and Dunsmore Business College, and retired from Virginia Tech, Shenandoah Valley Research and Extension Center/McCormick Farm, Raphine. She was a lifelong member of Old Providence ARP Church. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Mitzi Benson; a son, Matthew (Donna) Benson; two granddaughters, Rachel and Melanie Benson; a sister Freda (Jon) Hammersberg; a niece, Michele (Mike) Allebaugh; great nieces and nephew, Rorry, Hannah and Jax Allebaugh; and brothers-in-law, Robert E. Benson and Charles E. Darrah. A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Old Providence ARP Church in Spottswood. The family will receive friends following the service in Providence Hall. Burial will be private.
