MAYBELLE R. ALEXANDER STAUNTON, VA Maybelle (Ramsey) Alexander, 94, widow of William David Alexander, formerly of Verona, currently of 1410 A North Augusta Street, died Tuesday, March 3, 2015, in Legacy at North Augusta. She was born June 12, 1920 in Montebello, a daughter of the late Tulley Vaughn and Bessie Lillian (Grant) Ramsey. Prior to retirement, Mrs. Alexander was employed by Genesco with 27 years of service. She was an active member of Verona United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Ruth Circle. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Shelby Jean Alexander; and ten brothers and sisters. Family members include two sons and daughters-in-law, David Dean and Barbara Alexander of Staunton and Donald Lee and Gail Alexander of Moneta; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn May and Roy Hevener of Dalton, Georgia and Joan Dale and Jim Perdue of Staunton; four grandchildren, Tonya Hefner, Yvette Perdue, Tracy Alexandrou and Mary Pat Fleming; and six great grandchildren, Maria, Andreas, Sophia, and Eirini Alexandrou, Haley and Gabe Fleming; special sister-in-law, Bonnie Kerber; and special nephew, John Conner. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday (March 7, 2015) in the Verona United Methodist Church by the Revs. Robert J. Weeks and David Burch. Burial will be private in the Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Verona United Methodist Church, for Cemetery Upkeep, P. O. Box 47, Verona, VA 24482.
