MICHAEL G. KLEINKORT   Michael George Kleinkort, age 84, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at home in Staunton VA. He received the Sacrament of the Sick and the Eucharist as viaticum from the Catholic Church. He was born on 27 Nov 1933 in St. Louis MO to the late Michael and Florence Kleinkort. Mike grew up in Ferguson MO on the outskirts of St. Louis.  He graduated from DeAndreis High School in St. Louis in 1951. After high school, he attended St. Louis University briefly until he was called to serve his country. He joined the United States Navy and was stationed in Hawaii.  After completing his military service, he began work for International Harvester as a truck salesman and rose quickly to higher management levels, ultimately owning his own dealership in Kankakee IL. He later sold the International Harvester dealership and was recruited by Mack Trucks as a Regional District Manager. Mike led regional sales teams in Richmond VA, Atlanta GA, and Tampa FL.  He retired in 1992 to Staunton VA, where he lived until his death. Mike married Barbara Roeder in 1958 at St. Engelbert’s Catholic Church in St. Louis MO. They were happily married for 59 years. Both attended St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Staunton VA. Mike was preceded in death by his parents Michael and Florence Kleinkort and his sister Joan Kleinkort Rauch. Mike is survived by his wife Barbara; by his daughters: Susan Toombs of Murfreesboro TN and Karen Turner of North Garden VA; by his grandchildren: Megan Logan King, Elizabeth Turner Schrobenhauser, Caroline Turner, and Ben Turner; and by two sons-in-law: David Toombs and Fred W. Scott, Jr. Mike’s great-grandchildren are Olivia King and Easton King. Mike is also survived by a Golden Retriever: “Nelli”, his utterly loyal friend. Mike was cared for by the loving staff at Augusta Health Center orthopedic and hospice and his family is deeply grateful to them all. A memorial service will be held Friday, February 16 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 118 North New Street, Staunton VA 24401-3636 followed by a reception at the church.  Henry Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church “in gratitude for the ministry of Fr.
