GREENVILLE, VA Murray Elton Campbell, 80, husband of Thelma (Hays) Campbell, of 715 Cherry Grove Road, Greenville, died Wednesday, July 1, 2015, in Augusta Health, Fishersville. He was born September 3, 1934, in Amherst County, a son of the late Murrell F. and Elsie (Whitehead) Campbell. Mr. Campbell was a veteran of the U. S. Army. Prior to retirement, he was employed at Wayn-Tex, retiring in 1987. He was also a well-known and respected farmer in his community. He was a member of Greenville Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. In addition to his wife, family members include a son, Scott Campbell of Greenville; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Yukraine Campbell of Greenville; and three grandchildren, Megan, Kourtney, and Kasey Campbell. He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 4, 2015, in Greenville Baptist Church by Rev. Jamie McClanahan. Burial will follow in St. Johns' Reformed Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Ned Campbell, Todd Ashby, David Waters, Tommy Bowles, Brian Hays, and Roger Hays. Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons and Men of the Church, and David Simmons, Frazier Proffitt, and friends at the Staunton Live Stock Market. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, July 3, 2015, in the Henry Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Memorials may be made to Greenville Baptist Church, P.O.
