MYRTLE W. MAYS STAUNTON, VA Myrtle Marie (Wyatt) Mays, 85, widow of Arthur F. Mays, of 219 George Street, died Tuesday, February 11, 2014, at Augusta Health. She was born February 8, 1929, in Washington County, a daughter of the late Ray B. and Ella Mae (Thomas) Wyatt. Prior to retirement, she was employed by Tastee Freez for 25 years. She was also employed for a number of years by the Wal-Mart deli. Mrs. Mays was instrumental in founding a food pantry that currently serves 50 needy families in the Stokesville area. She was an active prayer warrior with her friends. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Mike; grandson, Jason and a brother, Ray Wyatt. Family members include a daughter, Kathy Hall; a son, Mark Mays and wife, Rhonda; a daughter-in-law, Ginny; seven grandchildren, Charity, Melissa and Luke Mays, Susan Hall Medlin, Neal Hall, Lydia Trollo, and Jennifer Mays Inboden; and five great grandchildren; four sisters, Thelma Lou Norris, Violet Dollinger, Mildred McSwain and Anna Bell Callahan. A funeral service will be conducted at 12 noon on Saturday, February 15, 2014 in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Mark Mays. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
