    MARGARET ELIZABETH PRICE

    June 23, 1942 - April 29, 2021

    Margaret Elizabeth “Midge” (Demarest) Herin Price, 78, died Thursday, April 29, 2021, after bravely fighting liver disease and cancer. The family would like to express their gratitude to Hospice of the Piedmont for the dignified and caring way they treated her until the end. Born June 23, 1942, in Newton, NJ to the late Gilliyaum and Evalena (Cortright) Demarest. She grew up on a farm, married Blair Herin and raised her family in Lafayette, NJ. After marrying Ronald Price they bought a Dairy Farm in Mint Spring, VA, where she lived until her death. She retired from The News Leader and farming. She was an active member of Mint Spring United Methodist Church. She was a past member of Mint Spring Ruritans and Farm Bureau Women. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Blair Herin and Ronald Price; as well as brothers, John, Gilliyum, Frank, Pete, and Robert. Family members include two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol Moore of Leesburg, FL; Sandra and Steven Thomas of Staunton, VA; three grandsons and a granddaughter, Joshua Watts, Damian and Travis Eutsler, and Krysta Thomas; a great granddaughter; four great grandsons; and a great great granddaughter; a sister and brother, Caroline Kithcart and David Demarest; and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of life by the Rev. Deb Washer will be at 4 p.m., Sunday, May 2, 2021, at the Mint Spring Ruritan Building, 1912 Lee Jackson Highway, Staunton, VA. The family will receive friends and family there before and after from 2 until 6 p.m. Burial of her cremains will be with husband’s in North Church Cemetery, Hardyston, NJ and Vaughn Cemetery in Lafayette, NJ. A memorial visitation will be held at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, Newton, NJ (Wednesday, May 5, from 4 until 6 p.m.). All current COVID guidelines must be followed. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mint Spring United Methodist Church, Mint Spring Ruritans, or to Hospice of the Piedmont in Charlottesville, VA.
