Marie Catherine Johnson Hartman, 78, wife of Paul Edwin Hartman, Sr., went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 5, 2023 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.

Marie was born on July 25, 1944 to the late Theodore Roosevelt and Annie Cleo Coffey Johnson.

She served as a private nurse and was a member of Good News Ministries. She had a passion for crocheting – especially prayer shawls – and she enjoyed cooking for her family. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and will be dearly missed.

In addition to her loving husband of sixty-two years, she is survived by her son, Paul Edwin Hartman, Jr. and his wife, Robin; her daughter, Lisa Darlene Hartman Mann and her husband, Mitch; her sisters, Irene J. Lawhorne, Dorothy J. Serrett-Arey and her husband, Ed, and Geneva J. Asbury; her brother, Alfred Johnson; her brother-in-law, Jack Swisher; her grandchildren, Ashleigh Hartman Fuson and her husband, Bobby, Bethany Kiracofe and her husband, Zach; Chaz Mann and his fiancée, Christina Rankin; and her great-grandchildren, Carter, David, and Theodore Fuson, Violet and Rowan Kiracofe, and Emelia Mann.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Jonathan Daniel Hartman; her brother, Rodney Johnson; and her sisters, Linda Johnson and Donna J. Swisher.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Augusta Memorial Park in Waynesboro with the Reverend Wanda Myers officiating.

While there will be no formal visitation, family and friends are welcome to sign the register book which is available at Henry Funeral Home during their normal hours.

In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to Good News Ministries (18 Kerry Lane, Staunton, VA 24401).
