Martha Anne “Mopsy” Pool Page died April 1, 2016 at Brightview Baldwin Park in Staunton, Virginia. She was born January 2, 1928 to Dr. and Mrs. Bennette Baucom Pool in Winston-Salem, NC. Mopsy received her Bachelor’s degree at Mary Baldwin College in 1948.  She served as Administrative Assistant for Otolaryngologist, Dr. James Harrill at Bowman Gray School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, NC. Mrs. Page returned to Staunton in 1962 and worked for MBC President Samuel Spencer. She met her husband, MBC Director of Music, Gordon C. Page, served as the Alumnae President and was awarded the coveted Emily Wirsing Kelly Leadership Award for outstanding service and leadership excellence on behalf of MBC. Mopsy and Gordon were honored for their extensive service to MBC when the Page Garden was dedicated in 1998. Mopsy was also an active volunteer at Trinity Episcopal Church and chairman of Historic Garden Week in Staunton, a member of Garden Club of Virginia, and the Garden Club of America. Survivors include close personal friend, Liz Shupe, MBC ’70, and nieces Anne Henderson, Bettie H. Goodwin, Nancy H. Hurd and husband Chris, and nephew, Terry Henderson and wife, Margaret as well as nine great nieces and nephews. Preceding Mopsy in death are her husband Gordon C. Page and her sister, Betsy Pool Henderson. A memorial service will be held at Trinity Church, Staunton, VA on Friday, April 22 at 2:30.
