Mary Lee Mccray

Mary Lee joined her beloved husband, William T. McCray (Bill) on January 2, 2021.

Their life together was spent on the McCray family farm in Newport, VA. She continued to live on the farm with their faithful daughter, Dreamma who served as Mary Lee’s caregiver. She was a caring housewife, mother, and friend. She loved being at home and helping with the farm chores

Mary Lee was a long-time member of Immanuel Presbyterian church and loved music, singing and auctions.

She was born in Augusta Springs, the daughter of the late Melvin Lee, and Freida Jane (Fridley) Downey.

Survivors include a daughter, Dreamma Ann McCray and a special niece, Wanda K. Nagy. She is also survived by other nieces and nephews. Also, “Miss Molly” her special cat.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by six sisters, Pauline D. Downey, Helen D. Kincaid, Gladys D. Landford, Florene D. Coley, Dorothy D. Berger, and Nell D. Bowles, and a brother, William R. Downey. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Burial will be private. Plans for a memorial service will be announced at a later date.
