Nancy Renee Houseknecht

Nancy H. Houseknecht STAUNTON –    Nancy Renee Hymes Houseknecht, 47, died at 8:46 p.m. on September 13, 2017 in University of Virginia Medical Center.    She was born in Alexandria on June 9, 1970, daughter of David K. and Mary (Arms) Hymes.    A graduate of Virginia Tech, Nancy was a nationally recognized, award winning graphic designer, most recently working at the American Shakespeare Center.    She was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church and the church choir.   She was very active in many local and community theater productions over the years.    Family includes her daughter, Emma Houseknecht; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Amy (Hymes) and Martin Pemberton of Ashburn and Mindy (Hymes) and Jeff Stovall of Woodbridge; Life Partner, Hank Fitzgerald of Staunton; Aunts and Uncle, Helen and Larry Benson of Groton, CT, Lois Ann Bentley of Chapin, IL, and Grace Hymes of South Jacksonville, IL; four nephews and a niece; cousins; former husband, Ben Houseknecht;  in-laws, Christene, Henry, DeAnn and Denise Houseknecht of Greenville; and countless friends and acquaintances.    A Celebration of her Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Covenant Presbyterian Church by the Rev. John C.
