STAUNTON, VA Natalie Beatrice LaPlante Rugar, 98, widow of Alfred Joseph Rugar, of Staunton, died Saturday, November 24, 2012 at Shenandoah Nursing Home. She was born June 29, 1914 in Plattsburgh, NY, a daughter of the late Edmund and Mabel Taylor LaPlante. Mrs. Rugar was a homemaker who loved to garden, knit, crochet and read. Her family members include a daughter, Nancy R. Strickler, a grandson, Michael Alan Sheffer and his wife, Sue of Bunker Hill, WV; a great granddaughter, Kirstin; and two sisters, Myrtle Grace and Leita Ann LaClair and her husband, Ray. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence and Taylor LaPlante; and two sisters, Gladys Gray and Teresa Flynn. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 28, 2012 in St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church by Father Joseph Wamala. Burial will follow in Thornrose Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at Henry Funeral Home.
