Rev. Otis Leroy Fisher, 90, widower of Mary Jane (Ramsey) Fisher, of Staunton, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, September 15, 2016.                              He was born January 21, 1926, in Buffalo Prairie, Illinois, a son of the late Raymond Reed and Ferris Maureen (Reynolds) Fisher.   Prior to retirement, Rev. Fisher was a Presbyterian minister, having served 12 years at E.K. Perrow Memorial Presbyterian Church in Charleston, West Virginia, 25 ½ years at Bethany Presbyterian Church in Staunton, and retired in 1991 in the Parish of the Pastures, which included three rural churches located in Goshen, Millboro, and Deerfield and was Associate Pastor of the Presbyterian Parish of the Pastures for 16 years. Otis was a life-long farmer who raised Shorthorn cattle for many years. He was a member of Shenandoah Presbytery. Family members include a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Joseph Douglas and Christy Dawn (Morgan) Fisher of Staunton; three daughters and sons-in-law, Susan Kyle and Dr. D. Michael Cromer of Churchville, Laura Ann and Kenneth Riley Boward of Fishersville, and Sarah Ellen and Brian Todd Ritchie of Weyers Cave; and 15 grandchildren, Kyle, Craig, Brian, and Tom Cromer, Ben, Emily, and Sarah Boward, Noah, Carter, Oakley, Jackson, and Janie Fisher, Hunter, Lauren, and Forrest Ritchie; one brother, Merle Fisher; and three sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary Ann Bestian, Joyce and Leroy Marple, and June McClanahan. In addition to his wife who preceded him in death on February 21, 2000, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Betty Campbell. A funeral service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday, September 18, 2016 in Bethany Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Dr. John Haney and Rev. Reed Hopkins. Burial will be private in Tinkling Springs Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Saturday, September 17, 2016, in the Henry Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Parish of the Pastures, P.O. Box 217, Goshen, VA 24439, or to Bethany Presbyterian Church, 2501 Fifth Street, Staunton, VA 24401; or to Legacy Hospice, CHA Foundation, 500 Faulconer Drive, Suite 200, Charlottesville, VA 22903. The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Brookdale of Staunton, the staff of King’s Daughter’s Community Health and Rehabilitation Center, the staff of Legacy Hospice, and a very special thank you to caregiver, Martha Rankin for her loving care over the last 2 ½ years.
