Owen Franklin Showalter

OWEN F. SHOWALTER STAUNTON, VA Owen Franklin Showalter, 93, widower of Janetta Belle (Huntley) Showalter, of New Hope Road, died Monday, December 9, 2013, in Rockingham Memorial Hospital, Harrisonburg. He was born July 1, 1920, in Rockingham County, a son of the late Brewer H. and Margaret (Maiden) Showalter. Prior to retirement, Mr. Showalter was employed by Wayne Manufacture with 45 years of service. He also was co-operator of Showalter's Phillips 66 and Showalter's Water Hauling. He was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Wendall Showalter, Julius Showalter, Weldon Showalter, Theodore Showalter, and Oral Showalter; and one sister, Edith Scott. Family members include three daughters, Dolores Andrews of Bath County, Sandra Showalter of Augusta County, and Connie Showalter of Augusta County; and one sister, Audrey Swartz of Mt. Crawford. A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 13, 2013, in Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church by the Rev. Robert D. McCarty. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Dennis Showalter, Travis Showalter, Bob Turner, Cecil Whittle, Justin Crummett, and David Crummett. Honorary pallbearers will be James Lambert and Bill Rowe. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Thursday, December 12, 2013, at Henry Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2807 N.
