BRIDGEWATER, VA. Patricia Roark Reynolds, age 75, passed away at home on Wednesday, April 2, 2014, following a long struggle with Progressive Nuclear Palsy. She and her husband, Thomas L. Reynolds, Jr., have been residents at the Bridgewater Retirement Community for the past five years. She was born in Bluefield, W. VA, the oldest of five children of her parents, Herman and Sylvia Roark. Mrs. Reynolds was a graduate of Halifax County High School, Virginia Intermont College and Samford University. She also attended the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY, where she and her future husband met. In addition to being a devoted mother and minister's wife, Patricia served for twenty years as a library assistant at James Madison University. Her favorite pastimes were gardening, counted cross-stitching, traveling with her husband, and spoiling her grandchildren. The Reynolds have two daughters, Wanda Nylander and Deborah Barsoum and seven grandchildren: Ryan, Benjamin, William, Ethan and Abigail Nylander and Isaac and Elijah Barsoum. Her siblings are Silas H. Roark, Jr. (deceased), Reita Bowles, Brenda Guill, and James Fletcher Roark. A memorial service will be held in the chapel of the Bridgewater Retirement Community on Sunday, April 6, 2014, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Harrisonburg Baptist Church, the Bridgewater Retirement Community Foundation and the Sentara RMH Hospice.
