STAUNTON, VA Paul Kenneth Harnad, 78, husband of Beate Harnad, formerly of Swoope, died Tuesday, November 26, 2013, at his residence. He was born September 23, 1935, in Marblehead, OH, son of the late Michael and Lena (Capko) Harnad. He was a 1957 graduate of Bowling Green State University and obtained his Master's Degree from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. Mr. Harnad served as an active duty Supply Corps Officer in the U.S. Navy for 20 years retiring at the rank of Commander. Mr. Harnad continued his naval service as a civilian for 23 years culminating a distinguished career as Director of Logistics for the Navy Engineering Logistics Office. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Phi Delta Theta, and of S.W.A.T. (Staunton, Waynesboro, Augusta Tennis Association). He was both an avid golfer and tennis player. In addition to his wife, family members include two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Glenda Harnad of Waynesboro and Matthew and Jane Harnad of Lake Ridge; two daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth and Donald Dwyer of Fairfax Station and Andrea and John Garris of Springfield; and eleven grandchildren Charlotte and Miles Harnad, Peter, Maggie and Phillip Dwyer, Samuel and Maxwell Garris, Cameron, Zachary, Samantha and Garrett Harnad. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 1, 2013, in Trinity Episcopal Church by the Rev. Dr. Paul Nancarrow. Interment will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
