PAUL D. MILLER, SR. FISHERSVILLE, VA Paul Douglas Miller, Sr., 90, husband of Evelyn Rose (Parrish) Miller, of 34 Truitt Lane, died Saturday, April 5, 2014, at Augusta Health, Fishersville. He was born January 15, 1924, in Elkton, a son of the late John and Mamie (Watkins) Miller and was raised in Waynesboro by Howard and Shannie Truitt. He graduated from Waynesboro High School and served in the Army 28th Division for three years and fought in five major battles. Prior to retirement, Mr. Miller was employed by Thomas G. Powell with 50 plus years of service. He was a member of Ridgeview Baptist Church. In addition to his wife of 66 years, family members include a daughter and son-in-law, Connie (Miller) and Lynwood Burnett of Fishersville a son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Wanda Miller of Fishersville;; three grandchildren, Michael Burnett and his fiancée, Sarah Nutty, Jaime Lyn and her husband, Logan Kelso, and Jeremy Maclam and his fiancée, Jennifer Simmons; four great grandchildren, Grace Burnett, Presley Jo Kelso, and Anthony and Jillian Maclam; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Heston and Marie Oliver; and five brothers, Jennings, Watkins, Dennis, Jack, and Billy Miller. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Paul accepted Christ as his personal Savior in 1962 (Praise the Lord). There will be a family reunion in place prepared by our Heavenly Father. Did you know there is only one true God? He loved us so. He gave His only Son, Jesus Christ. "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life" - John 3:16. I confessed my sins, I accept Jesus as my Savior and I am saved and will spend my eternity in Heaven. You can do the same. I give Him praise and glory in all things. You should see me now. I am walking on streets of gold. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Come and hear the angels sing to my family, friends, Christian brothers, and sisters. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2014, in the Henry Funeral Home by the Rev. Don McClure and the Rev. John Sullivan. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Marvin Thorne, Mitch Powell, John Drawbond, Dwane Maust, Charles Lawson, Chuck Hansen, Paul Brown, David Terrell, and Terry Densmore. There will be no public viewing or visitation. The family will receive friends anytime at his residence.
