Paul Gerard Rhoades

STAUNTON, VA Paul G. Rhoades, 69, husband of Barbara (Niebler) Rhoades, of Staunton, died Friday, January 10, 2014 at Augusta Health. He was born on August 17, 1944 in Saratoga Springs, NY, a son of the late Frank J. and Kathryn (Callahan) Rhoades. Mr. Rhoades graduated from Saratoga Springs High School in 1962 and attended Paul Smith's College in the Adirondacks. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1966 and served until his honorable discharge in 1972. He was employed by the City of Staunton. He was a member of the Saratoga-Wilton Elks Lodge #161. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed camping in the Adirondacks, a Jets fan, and enjoyed the study of history. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Matt and Jamie Rhoades, a sister, Carole (Rhoades) Cogan; several nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews, and cousins. Mr. Rhoades is preceded in death by a brother, Frank J. Rhoades, Jr. A memorial service to be held in NY will be announced at a later date.
