PAULINE M. HOLSTON   STAUNTON, VA… Pauline Meadows Holston passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Augusta Health. A cherished daughter of Lundy Elliott Meadows and Goldie Marie Garretson Meadows, she was born on July 28, 1929, in Wacoma, West Virginia, and raised in Fire Creek, West Virginia. Pauline graduated from Capitol City Commercial College in Charleston, West Virginia, before beginning her thirty-year career with Staunton City Schools. Known to her friends as Polly, she was an active member of St. John’s United Methodist Church. She served as vice president of the Shenandoah Rose Society and belonged to several other clubs, including the Sara Seaton Garden Club. Polly was an avid gardener, raising beautiful hybrid tea roses. She lived each day with an exceptionally brave spirit, and felt blessed by her faith, her family, her friends, and her roses. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert William Holston; her daughter, Jane Ann Holston Dawson; brothers: Randell Chalmers Meadows and wife Gay Lanham Meadows; Lundy Elliott Meadows, Jr. and wife Faith Craighead Meadows; and sisters: Margaret Rose Meadows Woods McCamy and husband Richard McCamy; Joyce Athlene Meadows Slack and husband Bobby Jack Slack. Surviving are a son, Robert William Holston, Jr. and wife Brandi Carrier Holston, of Windermere, Florida; grandson, Brock Robert Holston, and granddaughter, Bryce Jane Ann Holston, both of Windermere, Florida; granddaughter, Dr. Ashley Elizabeth Dawson, of Houston, Texas; a sister, Freida Charlene Meadows Canterbury (husband, Cue Canterbury, deceased); a son-in-law, Dr. Aaron Dawson, III, of the Woodlands, Texas; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. A memorial service will be held at St. John’s United Methodist Church on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 2 p.m. officiated by the Rev. Chuck Cole with interment in Thornrose Cemetery. Visitation and refreshments will be in the church social hall after the interment.  Henry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
