VERONA, VA… Margaret “Peggy” Theresa Carano, 91, widow of Robert Carano, formally of Bloomingburg, New York, died Thursday, July 5, 2018, in Fishersville, Virginia. Mrs. Carano was born on November 16, 1926 in Newburgh, New York, to the late James and Kathryn (Calnan) Morrissey. Mrs. Carano retired from Middletown Psychiatric Center after 33 years of service. Surviving family members include two daughters, Nancy J. Meeks (Gary L.) of Verona and Linda Hadden (Steve Depew) of Jeffersonville, New York; six grandchildren, Margaret Meeks, Lavinia VanDuzer (Mark), Jonathan Meeks (Hope), Valene Baggatta, Matthew Meeks (Amber) and Kristen Horn (Ian); seven great-grandchildren, Brinley, Mark, Caleb, Alivia, Conner, Riley, Issac, and another boy on the way; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Mary Morrissey and two brothers, George and James Morrissey.  Mrs. Carano was the last member of her immediate family. A funeral service will be conducted in Staunton, Virginia at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 12, 2018 by Rev. Zwickel at Henry Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow at Oaklawn Mausoleums and Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 PM on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 in the Henry Funeral Home.
