Pete Woolridge

Pete Woolridge, 80, of Churchville, surrounded by his family, went to be with the Lord July 3, 2022 at his residence. Born on August 3, 1941 in Covington, VA to Chloe and Harry Woolridge.

He attended Covington Alleghany High School. He married the love of his life, Betty Woolridge on May 17, 1963.

Pete is survived by four sons, Wayne Woolridge of Verona, Michael Woolridge wife Laura of Deerfield, William Woolridge wife Vicki of Churchville, Michael Ivan Woolridge of Churchville; one daughter, Rebecca Kennell (Charles Prestridge) of Staunton. Two special grandsons, Leelynd Woolridge and Mason Abshire whom he raised of Churchville.

Pete has three sisters, Marie (Sissy) Simmons of Richmond, Pauline Simmons of Verona, and Bessie Arlian of Colorado.

He is survived by his grandchildren, Kayla Woolridge, Hannah Woolridge, Carter Woolridge, Matthew Kennell, Jeremy Kennell, Amanda Woolridge, Wayne Woolridge, Jr., Jessica Brooks, Beth Woolridge, and Curtis Rankin.

Great grandchildren, Cierra Woolridge, Wayne Woolridge, Ashlynn Woolridge, Destiny Craig, Thorton Craig, Lana Craig, Braxton Norcross, Daniel Norcross, Brentlee Norcross, Landen Woolridge, Brayden Woolridge, Atticus Rankin, Kandence Steffus, Kamiyah Brooks, Khalil Brooks, and Khalilah Brooks.

He is preceded in death by a brother, Carl (Bubby) Woolridge of Covington and daughter, Vickie Leigh Woolridge of Deerfield.

He had the love of the Lord and loved going to the Church of God. Pete worked many years as a security guard for Bridgewater College and as a construction worker for Omens building the road for Afton Mountain. After becoming disabled he stayed home raising his children while his wife worked two jobs supporting the family. He enjoyed family time camping at Lake Moomaw and just being outdoors. He also loved hunting, sightseeing, fishing, rocking in his chair and swinging in his swing. Loved being in the mountains, loved his beloved dog Jack and enjoyed his joy juice.

Family night will be at Henry Funeral Home from 6 until 8 pm, Wednesday, July 6, 2022. The funeral will be at Henry Funeral Home at 10:00 am, Thursday, July 7, 2022 by Pastor Merle Dodson with burial following at Deerfield Community Cemetery.

Active Pallbearers are Wayne, Michael, William, Carter, Wayne Jr. Woolridge, Brian, Matthew Kennell, Curtis Rankin and Charles Prestridge.

Honorary Pallbearers will be grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Other than the funeral home, you can visit the family at 2581 Hankey Mtn Hwy, Churchville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
