Polly Jean (Alphin) Moats, 73, of Staunton, died peacefully Monday, October 5, 2020 at her son’s residence.
She was born January 17, 1947 in Middlebrook, a daughter of the late Frank Lewis, Sr., and Hilda Lacrisha (Monroe) Alphin.
Polly was an animal enthusiast, enjoyed scenic country drives, known for her detailed memory, and loved bird watching.
Family members include a son and daughter-in-law, John L., Sr., and Angie Alphin; step-son-, Donald Moats, Jr.; step-daughter, Kristy Via; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Evelyn L. and Woodrow Abshire of Lyndhurst and Betty A. and Bill Piner of Verona; brother-in-law, Dan Packer; sister-in-law, Margaret Alphin; 13 grandchildren, Heather Berry, Chris Alphin, Josh Alphin, Jacob Alphin, Cody Alphin, John Alphin, Jr., Carmen Simmons, Samantha Clatterbaugh, Natasha McRobie, Zachary Clatterbaugh, Tyler Clatterbaugh, Dylan Sutton, and Christopher Mauzy; 10 great grandchildren, Itzel Ramirez, Lily Ramirez, Zaniya Alphin, Kayleigh Greene, Jade Bell, Isabella Jimenez, Jessica Alphin, Madelyn Alphin, Gabriela Jimenez, and Hayden Siple; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank L. Alphin, Jr, James W. Alphin, and Jerry C. Alphin and a sister, Sandra A. Packer.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 10, 2020 in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Larry Strickler.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and other times at the residence of her son.
