Ralph Woodrow Whetzel

RALPH W. WHETZEL, JR. STAUNTON - Ralph Woodrow "Pete" Whetzel, Jr., 66, widower of Patricia Ann (Walters) Whetzel of Staunton, died Friday, March 20, 2015, at the University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville. He was born August 5, 1948 in Staunton, son of the late Ralph W. Whetzel and Mildred (Cason) Hocker. Pete was a driver for B & S Construction. He loved hunting, trains, gardening, and animals. Family includes his two daughters and sons-in-law, Melissa and Johnny Van Fossen and Maranda and Andy Talley; and five grandchildren, Mark Glenn, Jr., Alex Glenn, Cassie Whetzel, Dalton Rowe, and Evan Rowe; sisters and brothers, Mona Peters, Beverly Jeffries, Wanda Lynch, Gail Richmond, Larry Bowles, and Richard Bowles; five nephews; and two nieces. A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, March, 26, 2015, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Russell Heinrich. Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Maddox, Gerald Michaels, Eddie Dunn, Scott Stogdale, and co-workers at B & S Construction. Following the service the family will meet at 4 p.m. at the Staunton Moose Lodge. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2015, in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to your local fire department and/or rescue squad. The family would like to thank them for all of their efforts.
