RAYMOND J. DREGAWAYNESBORO, VA...Raymond Joseph Drega, 81, husband of Helen (Corbin) Drega, of 64, Hunters Trail, went to be with his Lord, Sunday, January 24, 2016, at his residence.He was born August 30, 1934, in Baltimore, MD, a son of the late Frank Walter and Florence (Ziomek) Drega.He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during Korea, and served with the 7th Infantry Division.Prior to retirement, Mr. Drega was employed by Western Electric in Baltimore with 25 years of service, 12 years of service with Genie Company in Shenandoah, VA and also taught school at Massanutten, Harrisonburg, and Valley Vo-Tech.He attended Fishersville United Methodist Church.He was employed by the Staunton Police Reserve with eight years of service and the Baltimore County Police Reserve wtih three years of service.In addition to his wife, family members include a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Tammy Drega of Staunton; a daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and James Williams of Staunton; four step-children, David and wife, Kelly Shifflett, Martha and husband, Terry Lowery, Michael and wife, Debbie Corbin, and Robin and wife, Carol Corbin; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Joan Drega of Jacksonville, FL and Frances and husband, Francis Susie of Milton, DE; four grandchildren, Joshua Drega, Jonathan Williams, David Williams, and Erin Williams; many step-grandchilren, including Tyler Corbin; many great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Lazelle (Elick) Drega; and a brother, Larry Drega.A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 27, 2016, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Charles F. Bates. Burial will be private in West Augusta Cemetery at a later date.The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1 p.m. in the funeral home and other times at the residence of his daughter, 205 Earl Street, Staunton.Memorials may be made to Fishersville United Methodist Church, 1600 Jefferson Highway, Fishersville, VA 22939.
