Raymond Edward Rankin

RAYMOND E. RANKIN, SR. STAUNTON, VA Raymond Edward Rankin, Sr., 78, husband of Estelle Shirley (Glenn) Rankin, of 202 White Oak Gap Road, died Friday, April 26, 2013, at the University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville. He was born April 8, 1935, in Augusta County, a son of the late Raymond Preston and Jessie Rebecca (Nutty) Rankin. Prior to retirement, Mr. Rankin was employed by American Safety Razor with 37 ½ years of service. He was a member of Mint Spring United Methodist Church. Raymond loved his job and his co-workers and liked to joke and cutup. In addition to his wife, family members include two sons, Raymond Edward Rankin, Jr. and Michael Dean Rankin, both of Staunton; a sister, Betty R. Hutchens of Staunton; a sister-in-law, Mary Helen Wood and huband, Jack, of Texas; special friend, Vaten Clatterbaugh and his wife; numerous nieces and nephews; and two cats, Buttons and Pebbles. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles S. Rankin and Lynwood Rankin. A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2013, in Augusta Memorial Park by the Rev. Terry Clark. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday, April 29, 2013, in the Henry Funeral Home.
