REBA P. PEYTON ELKTON, VA Reba (Propst) Peyton, 94, widow of Oscar Moten Peyton, formerly of Staunton, of 16856 Redbrush Road, died Thursday, May 31, 2012, in Journey's Crossings. She was born June 26, 1917, in Augusta County a daughter of the late John Daniel and Recie Belle (Daggy) Propst. Prior to retirement, Mrs. Peyton was employed by DuPont with 30 years of service. Following retirement from DuPont, she was owner operator of Plaza Florist, Floral Creations, and Terry Court Florist. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Weiford Bible Class and the Mission Group Circle. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by a brother, John Earl Propst; and a sister, Mary Ellen Farthing. Family members include two nephews, Charles P. Farthing III and his wife, Robin, and John Howard Propst; three nieces, Patricia Ergenbright and her husband, John, Teresa Farthing Davis and her husband, Chris, and Cynthia Farthing Wilson and her husband, Grant; eight great nieces and nephews; and six great, great nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday, June 4, 2012, in Christ United Methodist Church by the Rev. Robert Edwards and the Rev. Dr. Mike Fitzgerald. Burial will follow in Thornrose Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Memorials may be made to the Church Courtyard, c/o Christ United Methodist Church, 1512 Churchville Avenue, P.O. Box 363, Staunton, VA 24401. Henry Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
