RICHARD W. BOOTH NEW HOPE, VA… Richard William Booth, 93, husband of Mary (Moats) Booth, of New Hope, passed away Saturday, June 23, 2018, at his residence. He was born December 3, 1924, in Covington, a son of the late Floyd and Grace (Hanger) Booth. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Vallie (Shifflett) Booth; a son, Donald William Booth; two sisters, Ruby Alice Booth and Ethel Hicks; and a brother, Charles Elwood Booth. Mr. Booth was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served during World War II. Prior to retirement, he was employed by ASR. He was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church and very active with the Men’s Club there. He was an avid woodworker, a Boy Scout leader, and a very loving dad and husband. In addition to his wife, family members include a daughter, Melinda Booth; a daughter-in-law, Sharleen Booth; two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard (Nancy) Booth, Ronald (Elizabeth) Booth; a brother, Floyd Booth, Jr.; three grandchildren, Michelle (Nick)  Saunders, Clarissa (Jason) Via, and Jamie (Amy) Booth; and six great grandchildren, Nya, Jayden, Aubree Saunders, Emma, Isaac, and Ada Via. A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 29, 2018 in Augusta Memorial Park by the Revs. Shin Woo Hong and R. Doug Gonsalus followed by a service at 12 noon in New Hope United Methodist Church. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the United Methodist Men’s Club and members of the Boy Scout Troop #86.The family will receive friends from 4 until 7 p.m. Thursday, June 28, 2017 in the Henry Funeral Home. Those desiring may make donations to the U.V.A. Children’s Hospital, P. O. Box 800773, Charlottesville, VA 22908.
